Born in the south of England, Alastair spent his formative years in Botswana before returning to the UK to finish his education. He began his career in the finance sector, and while he was sucessfull by many measures it proved ultimately unfulfilling.
After moving to Australia he found work in the Film & TV industry, splitting his time between the camera and electrics department, where he developed an apprciation for the nuances of light, shadow, colour and composition, skills that would later build the foundation for his development as a Cinematographer.
Alastair firmly believes the key role of Cinematographer is that of understanding the vision in the Director's mind, helping them shape and bring life to it and then ultimately capturing that emotion and imagery in the camera.
In recent years Alastair has split his time between commercial projects, sketch comedy and short films, tirelessly looking for projects and collaborators to work and grow with.
